1992 Honda Cbr 600 F Supersport
FIRST, APOLOGIES TO EVERYONE, I ORIGINALLY LISTED THIS UNDER’BMW’ AND IT’S A DEMENTIA THING OBVIOUSLY. I HAVE CANCELLED THE ORIGINAL LISTING AND NOW ENTERED IT IN THE’HONDA’ SECTION. Here is my beautiful Honda CBR 600F Supersports, it’s a Mark 2 Model, eg 1992. It is simply gorgeous, with a custom paint job of red and black and has never let me down. I’ve owned her for about a year and loved every moment with her, it’s one of those bikes that when you get up in the morning and haven’t really got anything planned, you take one look at her and decide it’s a great day for a ride. I love the bike, and would keep her, but you know how it is – old riders like me need something a little more in keeping with our age, and the days of high-pressure sports riding are well and truly over. Besides, I now own a more suitable bike for my conditions, and while I want my wife to ride pillion with me, it’s difficult to ride pillion in comfort (considering our ages and illnesses) on such a sports machine as the little CBR. So, now I have a Virago, which means low-down gravity, feet-down at traffic lights, feet-up while cruising. It’s more comfortable for the long-haul and I can throw panniers and boxes at it and it won’t blink an eyelid. My wife loves it, and this is the end of sports riding and the beginning of the Twilight Zone which I will refer to as’old-age-cruising’. She is in brilliant condition for her age, clean, shiny, nice paintwork. Never uses oil, never let me down, starts on the button first time, runs like a dream not a Honda Dream, remember them? And has been lovingly looked after, with little wet-weather riding, obviously been caught in a couple of small showers, but always clean and tidy. Technically, she runs sweetly, doesn’t miss a beat, rides like a racing bike and is a pure joy – you can travel long distances on it, because she is comfortable for a sports bike, but my back isn’t what it used to be. She flew through the last MOT in May this year, so there is 10 months MOT on this machine. There was one small advisory – the headlight was dipping incorrectly – but it took just 30 seconds and a piece of black tape, and she passed instantly. There is an Art Race Can fitted and she passed the MOT with this, no questions asked. The MOT tester said there were no markings on the exhaust to indicate unsuitability for road use, so it was legal. I have fitted a’decibel killer’ insert, because the original state of the exhaust when I bought her was’straight through’ and I can report here and now that IT WAS LOUD!!!!!! Not for me, I’m afraid, so I inserted the decibel killer. She still sounds lovely, a joy to listen to, but much much quieter than the original! You can easily remove the decibel killer in 30 seconds if you wish. She has an expensive rear monoshock fitted, looks like a SHOWA. This has a centre stand and a sidestand. Easy to change tyres etc. There is a digital clock fitted, but I can’t say I worry about it. Maybe due to that expensive shock? I want to add that I have NEVER raced this machine, or hammered her. Most speed I’ve done on her was about 90mph, on a closed road. You will know she can do around 135mph. I’m not a racer or a speed merchant, so this bike has been cossetted in cotton-wool and really appreciated. 25 years old and doesn’t look old at all, well looked after and serviced by myself, the previous owner looked after her as well and maintained her regularly. The MOT chap said the chain was in exceptional condition. There is lots of paperwork with this bike, indicating services and parts etc. You get about 50mpg with this, whether you go fast or not, a mark of a good engine. She draws comments and looks wherever she goes, and has to be one of the best bikes I’ve owned, an all-round delight, with fairly low seat, comfortable riding position, rideability and flickability, and sound of the exhaust. There are a few blemishes, commensurate with being 25 years old – hey, I’m 67 and covered with freckles – for example on the mirror housing, but this is being picky. Right, that’s about it. As I said, I didn’t want to let her go, and I’ve been beside myself wondering what to do. But head has to overrule the heart, and with another bike in the garage, plus assorted musical instruments and stuff, I could do with the space. Any questions, please ask. Any viewing is welcome and encouraged. I live in IP13 7NY area, which is 10 miles from Framlingham, 3 miles from Wilby and Laxfield. I won’t sell to anyone with under 10 feedback ratings, once bitten, you know how it is! Message me if this is you, and we might talk about it. Bike needs to be collected but as long as you’re taxed and insured, she can be ridden away. She has 2 gallons in the tank, enough for 100 miles, nearest garage is 10 miles away. Cash on collection would be great. The item “1992 HONDA CBR 600 F SUPERSPORT” is in sale since Saturday, July 09, 2016.
